Stoic Reflection ("the app," "we," "our") is a daily journaling and reflection app. This policy explains what information the app collects, how it's used, and the choices you have. We've written it to actually reflect what the app does — not a generic template.
Stoic Reflection does not require an account, does not have a server, and does not send your journal entries anywhere. Your reflections, streaks, and settings stay on your device. The only data that leaves your device is what's required to show ads (for free users) and to process a purchase through Apple.
Stoic Reflection does not directly collect, store, or share any of the following:
If you enter a name during setup to personalize your greeting, it is stored only on your device and never transmitted to us.
The app stores the following locally, using iOS's standard app storage and a shared App Group (so your streak and daily quote can appear on your home screen widget):
None of this is transmitted to us or to any server we control. If you delete the app, this data is deleted from your device along with it.
Free users see ads served through Google AdMob, including interstitial ads and optional rewarded ads (which you may choose to watch in exchange for completing a day's reflection without writing). AdMob may collect:
If you're in the EU, UK, or a region with similar requirements, you'll be asked for consent before personalized ads are shown, in line with Google's own consent requirements. You can review Google's practices in the Google Privacy Policy and manage ad personalization in your device's Settings → Privacy → Tracking and Settings → Privacy → Apple Advertising.
Users who purchase lifetime access never see ads, and no ad-related data is collected from them going forward.
Stoic Reflection offers a one-time lifetime purchase to remove ads and unlock additional customization. This purchase is processed entirely by Apple through StoreKit — we never see or store your payment details. Apple's own privacy practices govern that transaction; see Apple's Privacy Policy.
If you enable daily reminders, the reminder is scheduled locally on your device using Apple's notification system. This never leaves your device or gets reported anywhere.
If you use the in-app share feature, the app captures a screenshot and hands it to iOS's native share sheet. You choose where it goes (Messages, social apps, etc.) — the app itself doesn't upload or store anything from this action.
Stoic Reflection is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from children. If you believe a child has used the app in a way that concerns you, please contact us using the details below.
If this policy changes, we'll update the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of the app after changes means you accept the updated policy.
